Nestled between the majestic Purcell and the Canadian Rocky Mountains, which were created by our Master's hand, lies the picturesque village of Marysville B.C. This frontier town had it's beginnings in 1890. To understand our history, one must accept the premise that God moves the hearts of men and women. The desire to spread the gospel started as early as 1901. Through the years many fervent efforts have kept the “light” shining in our little town. Among that list was Mrs. Laura Keer, to whom, credit has been given for starting our very first Sunday School many years ago. In November 1951, the vision to build a church was completed. After completing the hard work of laying a solid foundation for ministry to the community, the congregation turned to Village Missions of Canada in 1968 for its assistance in providing full-time pastoral care, which is still the case today. In 2021 we celebrated 70 years of service to the Lord.
Marysville Community Church, located in Kimberley, BC, is an independent, non-denominational church, solely governed by the local congregation. Many and varied denominational backgrounds are represented within the congregation, providing a rich and diverse flavor to the life of the church. But all cultural and denominational practices are placed second to the centrality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the unity of all believers. We are excited and proud to be part of Village Missions of Canada, serving the rural communities.
Mission Statement
The mission of Marysville Community Church is to make disciples and reach our community for Jesus Christ. By: Connecting people to Christ, Helping them grow in Christ, Receiving them into fellowship and service, Involving them in personal and group worship, Sharing God's love in Kimberley and surrounding areas, and Teaching and equipping people for ministry.
Our Values We are a Christ-centered, Bible believing, mission-minded church. Our church is a family in which every member is encouraged to share in worship, fellowship, discipleship, service and prayer. Below is a few vital statements of our church beliefs.
Statement of Faith
We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired Word of God, the supreme and final authority of faith and practice.
We believe there is but One True, Living and Eternal God, who has revealed Himself to this world as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of men, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is fully God and fully man.
We believe man was created in the image of God; that he sinned incurring physical and spiritual death; that all men are lost apart from the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
We believe in the Gospel of the Grace of God, in that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day for our justification.
We believe in Christ’s ascension into heaven and His present mediatorial high priestly work.
We believe in the present working and moving of the Holy Spirit in the lives of men and women.
We believe in the personal, visible, imminent return of our glorified Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for His church.
We believe in the eternal life of the believer, and the eternal punishment of the unbeliever.
We believe in the reality of Satan
We believe that the Lord’s Supper and water baptism by immersion are ordinances to be observed by the Church.
We believe the true Church is composed of persons born again through faith in Jesus Christ and that the local church is sovereign and autonomous in deciding matters of church policy.
Statement on Marriage and the family We believe that marriage was ordained by God at creation as the sacred union of one man and one woman. All sexual relations must therefore be reserved for that union. Christian marriage is a representation of Christ's relationship to His church. We also believe that children are a blessing from the Lord. Thus all human life is sacred and worthy of protection from the moment of conception. Genesis 1:26-28; 2:24; Psalm 127:3-5, 139:13-16; Matthew 19:1-9; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Ephesians 5:22-33; Hebrews 13:4
Church Covenant We covenant with the Lord and one another to accept the cost and joy of Christian discipleship. We pledge ourselves to be faithful and loving servants of God and our fellow man. We promise to proclaim the Gospel to all the world and with God's help, to resist the powers of evil. So far as we are able, we will attend the services of His church, observe its sacraments, share in its work, support benevolences and endeavor to make it a fruitful body of Christians. We commit ourselves to the LORD and to the growth and extension of His kingdom.
